Things aren’t always what they seem

I had an experience a few weeks ago that made me realize once again that…

In friendships/life/business things aren’t always what they seem.

I try and try to never judge a book by its cover but I find myself doing it at

times and then it always seems that I am proven wrong.

So the next time you walk into that sales call with a new client that you think

won’t spend any money…don’t assume…you never know until you begin

asking questions and digging deeper and finding out what that clients and its

business are really all about.

The same goes for life…when you see a neighbor that wears sweat pants every

day…once in a while they turn out to be millionaire entrepenuers who do tons

of charity work for your city.

My story was just more of a friendly reminder that this is a practice I need

to constantly remind myself to do because until you have walked a mile in

their shoes you just never know.

I was on a trip a few weeks ago and on the plane a lady behind me talked

RELENTLESSLY (haha) to her older mother.  I was having trouble reading my

book so I tried my I Pod and then I could hardly hear the White Stripes and

Kanye over her.

So the flight was over and I wound up being at the same hotel as the two of

them.

I found out the next morning that lady was probably talking so much to her

mother and was so excited she was there was because her mom had cancer

and wasn’t expected to have made it to the trip.

She was so damn excited because she was having one of the last and

hopefully most special memories of her life with her mom before she eventually

would lose her life to this terrible disease.

I looked at her differently the rest of my time there and I yelled at myself

inside that things aren’t always what they seem.

Always be open minded in business, relationships, and all aspects of your life

because you never know what will happen if you actually open the first page

of the book and begin reading as opposed to just judging the cover and

tossing it into the trash.

And I would have gladly had that lady talk into my ear the whole flight back

if it had happened.

Thanks so much for reading everyone!
