How ‘bout them Cowboys!

Just to state right off, this is not making fun of the Dallas Cowboys.  My Cincinnati

Bengals are hours away from getting run around by the Pittsburgh Steelers on

Monday Night Football, this is more about what to do when in a crisis.

The Dallas Cowboys were Super Bowl Favorites to begin the season.

This photo pretty much sums up what has happened since pre season…

The Cowboys are 1 AND 7?!?!  1 and 7 and getting blown out and they may just be

the WORST team in the NFL this year.

So the question is when you are in a crisis in business and in marketing a bad

product what do you do if you are Cowboys owner Jerry Jones???

There are rumors he will fire the coach.  He went on a rant last night about how

people will pay for this.

He apologized to all of the fans last week.  He just built the biggest, most

EXPENSIVE (he needs good profit margins) football stadium in the history of the

world.

Cowboys fans were paying $40 just to stand in the stadium and watch home

games from a screen last year!  They didn’t have seats and couldn’t even see the

FIELD!

So the lesson here is what is going to happen in the next 24 hours that is going

to shape the Dallas Cowboys.  They are a billion dollar business.  They are the

biggest sports franchise in America behind the New York Yankees.

Jerry Jones is a successful business man in every facet of his life and will not deal

with failure.

He will come up with a plan to keep the fans in the stadium this year, to make the

money and garner more enthusiasm any 1 and 7 football team deserves.

He also will deem this unacceptable to his staff.  His staff are players, coaches,

and scouts.  Some will pay for this with their jobs, demotions, humiliation perhaps?!

Imagine if you worked for a company that made $10 million dollars last year and

had the hottest product in town that was going to make you guys $20 million this

year.

Instead halfway through your fiscal year the sales staff has stopped caring, the

engineers don’t have a good plan for any new products, and you are on pace to

make $325k instead of $10 million.

It is how we thrive and overcome crises that really show what type of people we

are and what type of businesses we operate.

The workers on the Cowboys staff have given up.  Maybe that is Jerry’s fault since

he runs it, maybe not though?!

Either way I know Jerry Jones won’t be giving up and he’ll be on top some time

again.

Jerry it’s time to see what you are made of…raise hell in Dallas I WOULD!!!
