Happy Thursday All!
Sometimes ideas in marketing need to go beyond the gifts with a test drive at the
auto dealership or a ticket giveaway at a bar.
Those can always work but it sometimes it takes a little “theatre of the mind” and
go outside of the normal realm to come up with a cool idea.
A recent program that we are still promoting at the radio station I work for is
a promotion to have our PM Drive Guys Scott Torgerson and Mike Ricordati come
out and hang out with a group of listeners at their tailgate before the upcoming
Ohio State Michigan game.
That is the prize…plain and simple.
But it creates a different outlook and angle, it gives our listeners a chance to
have an experience beyond something material and it offers the opportunity to
put the people (our on air guys) that drive our ratings the time to sit down with
some huge fans and hang with them on a normal guy to guy or girl level.
I always preach to be different, seek out new ideas and trends, and come up with
something for your clients that truly stands out.
I think this is a great example of it and I wanted to share it with you.
We are promoting this cross platform on the air with promos and live reads from
Scott and Mike during their show, an interactive web page, and through our social
media outlets. Put together we hope every listener who is going to be tailgating
down on campus that day wants to enter and get the chance to win something
that is not tickets, a coupon, a beer coozie.
We want to reward them with an experience because sometimes that will memory
will last a lifetime.
Quick thanks to Meyers Jewelers and their owner Jeff for being the sponsor of this
event and branding themselves with this memory and experience for a lucky group
of winners!
