Hitting the Goal

The Easter Bunny is coming in early April.  Which means Lent is next Wednesday

and it is time to give up chocolate, beer, fried food, etc!

Okay whether or not you are Catholic, religious, christian, or anything of that

sort the point of this post is to say view Lent as an opportunity for 40 days

to strive and hit an attainable goal in your life!

It is the perfect amount of time that makes it somewhat difficult but very

possible to achieve.

The problem with Lenten promises though is people give up or abstain from

things that they can’t give up for 40 days!

If you eat chocolate three times a day every day, don’t give it up for 40

straight days.

Rather make a goal to yourself of eating no chocolate 4 days per week and

having one piece 3 days per week.  Someone who eats chocolate 3 times

per day should be very excited and proud to hit a goal like that.

Lent also often asks people to abstain from their most precious and guilty

pleasures.

I try to view it is an opportunity to gain or add to what I already do.

The point is…start small…view the next 40 days as an opportunity to hit some

goals.

No matter how big or small.

Too often people (think New Year’s Resolutions) try to make these long

outlandish goals in their jobs, personal lives, etc and they get frustrated b/c

they are so far fetched and there are so many of them that by day 9 of Lent

or January 12th they give them up and say

“I can’t hit goals!”

Yeah you can.

Just make them possible.

Once you hit your goal over the next 40 days.  Make yourself another one or

two important goals to do over the rest of the spring.

Hit that goal and make a professional goal for the summer…so forth and so on.

By the end of the year you will have increased sales in your business, your

followers on twitter by posting value, read more books to get new ideas,

gotten in better shape that you have been longing for, and you are more happy

with yourself and confident in what you do because you have been hitting all

of your goals.

So when you sit down with your family and friends at the end of the year you

can say 2012 was a year to remember and 2013 will be even better.

All because you decided that these 40 days were an opportunity to improve

and better yourself.

So make one or two this weekend and go at it!

Thanks for reading everyone have a great day!
