Or do we?

Since the recession, that is hopefully now over, started it seems there has been
a huge spike in the higher education sector. In fact they probably thrived off of
the recession more than anyone else.
Numbers were up, and with good reason. People realized to hold up jobs that used
to be theirs as long as they wanted them were now going to be cut back or maybe
eliminated all together. There was also an idea that anybody could be undercut
at any given moment for their job because someone else would work for $2,000.00
less salary per year or because they had a little more experience or could do
an extra job that you were uncapable of performing.
People wanted to sharpen that resume, make themselves stronger candidates,
and overall just enhance their toolbox when employers looked at them.
Now the question will be for the education sector is how to differentiate from
one another, there are quite a few getting money in grants from the government
to be used in advertising and marketing.
How do they make their message stand out and show that their institution
is the place you should attend to get that higher learning…..
A few thoughts on this from what I hear…
1) Money is more important than people think for higher learning. In fact for me
it would be the most important factor in choosing where to go as I am, and I am
sure like most people, on a very limited and strict budget currently.
2) Flexibility and variety of class times…most people will be working while they
do this…make it easy for them to choose you and get their degree.
The problem is most schools are already advertising they have the most programs,
best tuition rates/loans, variety of classes, and a culture that will help you
become the worker you want to be.
So…
The question is are there other ways to stand out from all the others.
There are.
The recession may have been only the tip of the iceberg for this sector.
They have grant money possibly as well.
The opportunity is there now it is time to grab it.
Sometimes a sector gets a great opportunity because of something that
happens that affects so many people in a negative way, but for them it is
only a positive and uplifting opportunity for their business.
This may be their chance.
