Well I don’t think that photo needs much explaining that this guy is certified
nuts about Alabama Football.
With the college season about to kick off I wanted to throw out an article
that should come to no one’s surprise but just shows the amazing
passion from college sports town that are geared towards their team.
Passion that exists there I don’t think necessarily can exist for pro teams,
with a few exceptions of the Yankees and the Steelers.
(And NO I didn’t name the Red Sox, a lot of their fans were down and out
before Theo Epstein showed up and helped break the curse.)
A reason study said that Birmingham Alabama has 77% of adults living in the
area classified as regularly watching and following college football all season.
The next three schools/towns:
Madison Wisconsin and the Badgers at 74.1%
Columbus OH and the Buckeyes at 73.5%
Ann Arbor and that State Up North with their Wolverines at 71.5%
The national average of a city/town that watches/follows college football
week in and week out: 45%.
Pretty staggering numbers!
The passion of some people for their teams can’t be duplicated at the pro
level either.
When was the last time you saw a Lakers fan walking around with a Phil
Jackson tattoo on his back?!
So if you have a product that you think reaches this demographic in these
towns…target them!
Reach them through their passion and associate your business where
applicable b/c as much as these fans worship their teams they’ll also be
much more likely to associate with businesses that sponsor the team.
Thanks for reading everyone! Have a great day.
